Release Notes:
--------------

There are so many good games coming this year!!

I wonder if I'll have time to play with them all..

Fortunately, I'll graduate soon and will have plenty of time to spend on
my favorite games!

Enjoy this new release brought to you by KiWi !!

BTW, if you are tired waiting for System Shock, grab Bio Forge! :)

PS: A lot of titles will appear in the future releases of COMING SOON.

RalPh KiWi DuD NeXuS

IMPORTANT:
----------

I need an airline ticket to go to the SUMMER CES in CHICAGO.
The first person to offer me a ticket + hotel + food + air fare
will win a KiWi membership. :)

I'm seriously looking for a computer game related job. Of course,
I wonder if a metallurgy/material engineering diploma will help in getting
such a job, but we never know !
I have plenty of new ideas.. hire me!

WING COMMANDER III: HEART OF THE TIGER:
---------------------------------------

Far away in the distant universe of Kilrah, mankind is fighting a
losing battle for survival. The tiger-like Kilrathi have all but
crushed the human resistance. The only hope lies in a prototype
planet-smashing weapon known as the Behemoth, but before it can
be used, a traitor within the human ranks hands it over to the
enemy. You, as the player and lead character, command the fighter
squadron as you fly daring missions to take out Kilrathi
fighters, rescue prisoners of war, and finally, volunteer on an
almost certain suicide run to bring the war to a definitive
end-one way or the other. Throughout the game, your combat skills
and decisions will affect the storyline. Your conversations with
other characters will give you insight into their personalities-a
nd to the identity of the traitor.

The Wing Commander series pioneered the concept of the
"interactive movie," with compelling storylines, cinematic
sequences and branching plots. Heart of the Tiger takes it to its
most sophisticated level ever, with player control over ship
selection, weapon selection and character dialogue. New,
proprietary ORIGIN polygonal technology makes the graphics burst
into incredible, high-resolution Super VGA while maintaining
blistering speed. Groundbreaking video technology allows for
full-motion, full-screen playback of actors with television
quality. HMI sound drivers, combined with a dynamic General MIDI
soundtrack, digitized speech and sound effects, bring Wing
Commander III an unsurpassed level of audio realism, with up to
32 different samples able to be played simultaneously. Last, but
certainly not least, high-power motion picture talent such as
Mark Hamill (Star Wars), John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost
Ark) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) act against
stunning sets painstakingly rendered with Silicon Graphics
computers.

Chris Roberts was born in California, but grew up in Manchester,
England. At the age of 13 he taught himself programming on the
BBC Microcomputer, a British-made machine, and one year later
he'd already sold his first computer game. Within a few short
years, he'd become one of England's best-known game designers. By
1987, he had three #1 hits in the United Kingdom: Match Day, Wiz
Adore and Stryker's Run. It was that same year that Mr. Roberts
joined forces with ORIGIN Systems, Inc. as a freelance designer.
His first project at ORIGIN, Times of Lore, hit #1 on Ingram s
Best-Seller List in 1988. He followed that achievement with Bad
Blood, a post-holocaust role-playing game in 1990. His next
project, Wing Commander, skyrocketed to the top of the charts
where it remains even today.

Mr. Roberts game design ideas and advances in PC technology
(386/486 processors, VGA graphics and sound cards) combined to
make Wing Commander the new standard in PC games and ushered in
an entirely new genre in the PC gaming industry called
"interactive movie." It also created a flagship product for
ORIGIN to complement the Ultima series of fantasy role-playing
games. To date, the Wing Commander line-including Wing Commander
II, Secret Missions I & II, Special Operations I & II, and the
Speech Accessory Pack-has garnered a host of awards and sold more
than 1,500,00 units worldwide.

Last year, Mr. Roberts was named Vice President at ORIGIN and an
executive producer for Origin's parent company, Electronic Arts
of San Mateo, California. As Executive Producer, Mr. Roberts
blends his vision and technical expertise to keep ORIGIN on the
cutting edge of computer entertainment. He continues to
produce/direct one to two major titles each year.

Mr. Roberts latest game, Strike Commander, a military flight
combat simulator, is also an international best-seller and is a
showcase for ORIGIN's revolutionary new 3D REALSPACE system, the
most powerful 3D system ever produced for the PC.

WING ARMADA:
------------

WING COMMANDER ARMADA

(AUSTIN, TX)-The rules of combat are about to change in the Wing
Commander universe. With the release of ORIGIN s Wing Commander
Armada, gamers will have the option of waging their
intergalactic battles head-to-head with another player by using a
modem or network. Wing Armada is the first in a line of
multi-player products from ORIGIN. There s a split-screen view
that allows two players to compete on the same computer. And for
the first time in a Wing Commander game, a player can switch
sides and fly for the evil Kilrathi Empire.

But there s much more to Wing Armada than head-to-head combat.
You re no longer just a hotshot pilot fulfilling an assignment.
Here you have the freedom to construct your own missions and your
own campaign. For the first time, players will merge their space
combat abilities with strategic responsibility. From quadrant
maps and information from recon ships, you plan an expansion of
your fleet and manage critical resources. At the end of each
decision lies a battle, and you lead the Wing. If that weren t
enough, you also choose the intricacy of combat, from short
dogfights to extended campaigns across an infinite universe.

Unlike previous multi-player games, Wing Commander Armada
utilizes a next generation 3D engine complete with fully
textured, light-source shaded objects. Some of the new features
include an invisible cockpit that gives the player a larger
viewing area, actual 3D shields that protect your ship from the
inevitable onslaught, an intuitive "Starmap" navigation/deploymen
t interface and a "Tauntmaker" option in which the player can
customize digital taunts to use against the enemy. External
camera angles, a dynamic musical score and digitized sound
effects add to the depth of the experience.

Current system requirements for Wing Commander Armada are:
	IBM-PC, 386/33+, Intel 486 or 100% compatible system
4 MB RAM, 8-10 MB hard drive space
	MS-DOS 5.0 or higher
	256-color VGA
MUSIC (optional): Ad Lib, Sound Blaster, Sound Blaster
Pro, Roland LAPC-1/MT-32, Gravis Ultrasound, General MIDI MPU-401
interface, or 100% compatible sound board
SPEECH/SOUND EFFECTS (optional): Sound Blaster or 100%
compatible sound board
HEAD TO HEAD PLAY (optional): Hayes compatible 2400+ baud
modem or NetBIOS Network
	Expected retail price: $55-65
(NOTE: You must have a sound card with an internal
recording program and an external microphone to record taunts.
Wing Armada will integrate *.WAV files you create using your
sound card hardware.)

STAR WARS SCREEN SAVER
----------------------

Remember the first time you saw STAR WARS -- the edge-of-your-seat space
battles, Darth Vader's ominous presense, and the vast array of alien
characters both aiding and daunting Luke, Han and Leia in their
quest to fight the Empire?
The upcoming Star Wars Screen Saver from LucasArts Entertainment Company
will let you re-experience all the action of George Lucas' spectacular film.
The expansive modules in this screen saver program for Windows and Macintosh
will feature many of the well-loved characters and action scenes from the
original STAR WARS movie, as well as reveal a behind-the-scenes look at
'artists' conceptual designs, spacecraft schematics and little-known trivia.

"The Star Wars Screen Saver will easily distinguish itself from the
many screen saver products available," said LucasArts' Producer Kalani
Streicher. "We're in a 'galaxy far, far away' from flying pigs and toasters.
The Star Wars Screen Saver combines high-end video production techniques,
multimedia effects and high speed animations with an insiders guide to the
STAR WARS universe."

A selection of detailed modules represent a wide variety of action
sequences reminiscent of the scenes portrayed in the STAR WARS movie. One
such module depicts a variety of battle scenarios from the bridge of a
capitol ship.
Out the window, among the planets and moons, laser shots will fire away
as TIE fighters and X-wings engage in space combat. A more humorous module
will feature the shifty Jawas and scheming Tusken Raiders of Tatooine
as they shuffle across users screens to steal and blow-up icons and folders,
stopping only long enough to terrorize R2-D2.
Another screen saver module looks at how STAR WARS was created from
conception to reality. Here, the entire STAR WARS screenplay text
scrolls by, as storyboard art fades into its corresponding scene from the
actual movie.
The Star Wars Screen Saver also will provide fascinating trivia not revealed
in the trilogies. For the first time, users will have direct access to
detailed background information on the main STAR WARS characters and aliens
portrayed in the movie. For example, one module features an alien
almanac set in the seedy cantina in Mos Eisley. A camera pans the
well-traveled watering hole, stopping to zoom-in for close-ups featuring
over ten aliens, including Greedo, the Cantina Musicians and Ponda Baba.
As their faces are highlighted, key information is displayed such as the
alien's race, planet of origin and occupation.
Users will have the opportunity to confront the Dark Side in the Star
Wars Screen Saver. In a particularly ominous module, Darth Vader takes over
the screen -- breathing menacingly -- as stormtroopers, torture droids and
Imperial officers march by, reflected in his mask.
While the graphics are visually impressive, a riveting sound track is
included with the Star Wars Screen Saver. The sound track will feature
approximately 100 digitized sound effects, including Darth Vader's breathing,
the Jawas' chatter, R2-D2's beeps, Chewbacca's growls, and battle sounds from
lasers to explosions. Additionally, each module will have its own full
musical score featuring a different STAR WARS theme.

The Star Wars Screen Saver is being developed for LucasArts
by Presage Software Development, Inc., the company responsible for the
Macintosh versions of Might & Magic III, Prince of Persia and Lemmings.
Presage co-designers Glenn Sugden and Mike Kennedy are both big STAR WARS
fans.
